Ushering Ministry

The Ushering Ministry at AIC Milimani serves as the embodiment of warmth, order, and service, playing a crucial role in ensuring every worshipper feels welcomed and valued. Led by Mr. Nathan Mutai (Head Usher) and Ms. Ann Odero (Deputy Head Usher), the ministry acts as the gateway to worship. Their role is rooted in biblical tradition, mirroring the Levites who served at the temple gates. Ushers are the first impression of the church, ensuring services run smoothly and reverently.

Their responsibilities are vast, including manning entrances, assisting those in need, maintaining order, distributing materials, and handling emergencies. Since its inception in August 2021 with 40 members, the ministry has grown to a thriving team of 68 members by September 2024. Key achievements include the introduction of uniforms for uniformity and professionalism. Standard operating procedures guide both new and experienced ushers. The ministry has significantly contributed to the growth and retention of church membership by creating a welcoming atmosphere. Many new members credit their decision to join the church to the positive experience with ushers.

Community outreach includes hosting benchmarking delegations from other churches, sharing best practices and hospitality. Training and team building activities, often involving retreats, foster unity and improve service. A partnership with the Security Ministry equips ushers to handle security issues and ensure congregation safety. Spiritual preparation is emphasized through pre-service prayers and regular church attendance. Technology, such as Zoom and WhatsApp, facilitates communication and coordination. The ministry aligns with the church’s vision of being a “Biblically mature community of believers worshipping and serving Christ” by connecting people to Christ and His family. Through service, they are dedicated to helping visitors become active participants in the church.
