Social Responsibility

AIC Milimani is committed to community service and outreach, viewing these efforts as integral to living out its Christian faith. This focus aligns with principles that emphasize practical expressions of faith, responsible use of resources, and impacting society, reflecting the church’s core pillars: Missions & Evangelism, Stewardship, Fellowship, Discipleship, and Worship. The church seeks to glorify God by connecting people to Christ, helping them discover their life’s mission, and impacting the world.

The church’s service extends across local and international communities, ministering to a “hurting world”. Various ministries lead these initiatives. The Women’s Ministry provides spiritual and material support in areas like Marsabit, Namarey, and Korr, and reaches out to vulnerable groups such as those in Langata Women’s Prison and local children’s homes. This ministry also fosters Community Social Responsibility (CSR) among its members through mentorship groups. The Youth Ministry engages in community service, including clean-up campaigns and mentorship, and conducts outreach to incarcerated children, residents of children’s homes, older people, and local police stations. They have also been involved in missions resulting in church construction and medical/sports missions. The Men’s Ministry collaborates with the Missions Ministry for an annual visit to the Nairobi Juvenile Remand. Music ministries, such as the Mabalozi Choir and Hill Voices Choir, also participate in outreach by ministering in prisons and hospitals.

AIC Milimani supports specific needs within its community and beyond. The Children’s Ministry partners with organizations like Tumaini Children’s Home and local schools. Significantly, it has established a class for differently-abled children, fostering inclusivity. The Missions Ministry expands outreach beyond Kenya, including work in prisons, and locally focuses on needs such as building schools, supporting literacy, and providing relief food. The Counseling Ministry, established to support mental health, serves church members, their families, and the broader Nairobi community. The Differently Abled Ministry champions inclusivity for the Deaf Community, integrating them into church activities and providing interpreters. The Noble Marriages Ministry provides social support through a welfare kitty for members facing needs like bereavement or illness and addresses key challenges like parenting, finances, and communication within marriages.

This commitment to service is rooted in the church’s desire to live out the Gospel in word and action, fulfilling the Great Commission. Stewardship, a key pillar, involves encouraging members to contribute their time, talents, and financial resources to church activities and mission outreaches, viewing this as giving back to the community and managing resources for God’s glory. Cell Groups are identified as the “heartbeat” of the church’s community impact, actively working to meet the needs of both church members and the wider community through shared interests and outreach. These groups provide spiritual guidance, emotional, and practical support.

Collaboration is also crucial, with AIC Milimani partnering with other churches and organizations to enhance its outreach and impact. The church’s Strategic Plan includes mobilizing resources for ministries and expanding its influence within the community and beyond through collaboration with other churches, both locally and internationally. These partnerships serve to share best practices and strengthen the church’s ability to minister. The ultimate goal of these diverse activities is the transformation of lives and the uplifting of communities through God’s grace and making the Gospel of Christ known.
