As we approach the 30th Anniversary of AIC Milimani Nairobi, I reflect on the journey that has shaped our church community, particularly over the past nine years of my ministry here, serving as the Youth Pastor, I have been entrusted with the oversight of our youth ministry and the coordination of the Discipleship Department.
Throughout this period, my role has extended across various pillars of our church, including Missions, Worship, Discipleship, Stewardship, and the Noble Marriages Ministry. Guided by Galatians 2:19-20, the ministry is anchored in the principles of faith, mentorship, evangelism, and leadership development. Over the past five years, we have witnessed significant milestones in various ministries under my leadership.
In the Mission Department, a three-year mission in Chepturu and Cheptalamach, culminated in the construction of the AIC Cheptalamach Church. Our first medical and sports missions in Kwale were also notable achievements. In the Worship Department, I contributed to the renaming of the Hill Voices Choir, the recording of the Msalaba Mabalozi Choir, and the unification of worship service stakeholders.
Through faithful preaching, intentional fellowships, discipleship programs, and prayer, we have continued to build a church that is “Rooted for Growth”.
In Discipleship, we developed cell group discussion materials, facilitated the KUZA Growth Moment program for over 300 youths, and introduced the BEE program, which now boasts over 60 students. We also organized various breakfasts and high school discipleship programs, strengthening our community’s spiritual foundation.
The establishment of the Noble Marriages Ministry and the expansion of our youth ministry from 30 to 400 members stand out as key accomplishments. We introduced dynamic programs such as Prayer Thursday, the “At His Feet” podcast, the Tujikuze youth magazine, and the Ignition camp. We also initiated 15 departments within the youth ministry, fostering a vibrant and engaged community.
Our ministry’s impact has been further amplified through strategic partnerships with other churches and organizations, including Karura Chapel, Nairobi Chapel, Good Shepherd Church, and various hospitals and institutions. The “At His Feet” podcast has been a highlight of our technological engagement, reaching a broader audience and enhancing our ministry’s reach.
Through faithful preaching, intentional fellowships, discipleship programs, and prayer, we have continued to build a church that is “Rooted for Growth,” reflecting the spiritual, communal, and missional pillars that define AIC Milimani Nairobi. May God’s grace continue to guide us as we embark on the next chapter of our journey, ever committed to His purpose and glory.
Rev. Dr. Luke Odhiambo Awino, Youth Pastor
